Useful korfball tools for your smartphone
Írta: NagyBandor 2011. dec. 8. 12:04

Since these days almost all korfball coaches, trainers, referees, jury members and players have a smartphone in their pocket, it is time to collect some useful tools for your smartphone. I only know Android, but I will be very happy to receive comments on the available IPhone apps, too.

Apps for Coaches and Trainers

TeaMMate
Jan Van Wassenhove

EUR 1,49

TeaMMate is a fun and easy way helping you out practising your favourite sport. It has been developed to help you out on the field with all those difficult plays. Not only meant for pro's but for everyone who likes to sport in competition. You can draw and setup your plays. Once drawn you can review them, too. The plays you created can be synchronized with your online acccount.

It is a simple, but useful app to show your latest big trick in the 3-1 setup...

Futsal App
Canica Apps
FREE

Futsal App is an application dedicated to futsal, but it can also be used for korfball (the only thing is that the post is not drawn on the field). It allows you to prepare your strategies, design your workouts and plan your trainings.

You can design your strategies by identifying the positions of players at certain moments and preview the result. You can also create your training exercises, or plan your training using your saved exercises and specifying the time of work of each of them.

You can also use it freely as a blackboard to explain your instructions.

It is really simple: see the instructions on this video:

Apps for Referees

World Referee
Magyar Zoltán
FREE

A funny Hungarian app.

Yellow and red card on your mobile.

No bullshit, just the most important things.

And, in good quality.

Red/Yellow Card
KDJ Software

FREE

The same, but it comes also with a whistle sound. Our kids in the orphanage love it (I mean, not to get a card, because that means a black dot for them, which 'eats' their red dots, for which they can collect gifts).

You can also note whom the card was given to.

Scoreboard with Timer
h.k

FREE

A simple solution to count the score and measure time.

It will vibrate when time is up. It is cool, practical and simple.

Yesterday, when we had our first ever U9 and U11 Cup in Hungary, I have used it while whistling the games. It worked well, the only thing is that you have to be careful not to touch the screen, because that may add some extra goals to the score.

Apps for Jury Members

World Korfball for Android
Ingo Feltes
Free

It gives you access to match results, match schedules, live scores. Next time you'll need it is the EC final in January.

It is worldkorfball.org for your smartphone. Very useful when you are on the go, but need to know the result of the Prievidza Dolphins – ZEMUN Beograd match :).

Score Board Droid
Ferran Ribell

FREE

Electronic scoreboard on your screen. It is great to follow and present the score. Better than pen and paper, for sure.

Preferred sports are handball, beach volley, tennis, soccer, futsal, basketball, but will work well for korfball, too.

And, you can share the results on Facebook, too.

Scoreboard (Flip Style)
Senfpot

FREE

The classical flip-style scoreboard.

Not a highly sophisticated one, but it is great for the purpose.

And, you will not forget to bring it with you, which is a great thing, as I always tend to leave the normal one behind...

Apps for All Korfball Fans and Professionals

Relaxation Ringtones
Sancron Cool Ringtones

FREE

Relaxation sounds and ringtones for your mobile.

You will need this app when your players, the ref, the jury, the coaches, the audience, the representatives of the clubs, blog authors or anyone else drives you crazy (as it happens often in the korfball world :) ).

The app contains 60 different sounds and ringtones, some of which are really good.

Disclaimer:

nothing can guarantee that the apps described above are "friendly" ones, meaning that they will not steal your data or suck the info from your sim card. So I take no responsibility whatsoever for the downloading and usage of these apps. It is your responsibility to download and use them.

On the other hand, I have all these apps on my phone (except for the TeaMMate one, but I have seen it on somebody else's device), and so far I haven't expereienced any problems with them. Of course it doesn't mean that I will not, but so far these apps worked well for me.
